Opera & Homemade Pizza

I am always looking for ways to save time and save money. This recipe for pizza dough is super simple and contains items I already have so it is "free."

But why go through all the trouble you ask? Frozen pizza is pretty cheap and then there is the MESS.

There's a few reasons why. Firstly, I can save money. Second, it's nice to work with my hands. Thirdly, there is nothing like homemade bread, and lastly, togetherness. You see, when I bake, I try to do it with my kids.

(And my dog. She might just jump on a chair and try to take a bite out of the dough. )

To save time, I double the recipe to use for later or even better, surprise someone else with some awesome dough!

I hummed this song while making it with my son.

Here's how you make it:

Ingredients
 2 ¼ tsp yeast
2 cups flour, for the dough and to flour kneading surface
 ¾ cup warm water
 ½ tbsp olive oil
 1 tsp salt
 1 tbsp sugar

Directions
1

Dissolve yeast in a bowl of warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.

(Blurry photo but proof I was there)

2

Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
(My kids helping make the dough)

3

Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes. Toss the dough in the air if you are feeling festive. And feel free to break into song.

4

Refrigerate or freeze. When ready to use, let rise on the counter top, covered, for one hour.

(My roomba, umm, I mean, dog, helping me clean the mess lol)

5

When ready to bake, preheat oven to 500 degrees, add sauce, cheese and toppings, and bake for 5 minutes. Rotate, and bake for another 5 minutes. And it's done!
