Recently I was listening to the Fountains of Carrots podcast, and one of the ladies on there was talking about becoming holy through folding a pair of pants. This resonated with me. You see, since I don’t work outside the home, I spend much of my time at home with my two little ones. Sometimes I can feel as though I don’t have the ability to have the impact I want on the rest of the world. Can I go volunteer at the soup kitchen? Well, maybe but that would take so much coordinating it would be unbelievable. Can I become a missionary to a different country? No. So what can I do on my path to become holy? What do I have to work with? How can I build up the church? How can I become holy?

I have found myself asking God this question every morning. Amidst so much chaos, what would God have me do to help someone else? I feel like anything I can do is too small to make an impact. Of course prayer is super important, but so is taking action. Here are some thoughts I’m having right now about how to help others during this time.

No one really talks about suffering, and since it’s a pretty heavy topic, I’ll start off with a funny story.
For some reason, when I was thinking about writing this post, I thought about a trip I had to Santa Cruz, with my Aunt and my cousin.

First of all, let me tell you this post is not professional advice but experiences I’ve had and lessons I’ve learned in the past 4 years living on one income in California. Now back to the post.
You just had a huge unexpected expense. Your car needed new tires. There goes $800. You wonder why you even try, you feel like you’ll never reach your financial goals.

My dear readers, I have some exciting news to share with you..
I wrote my first book!
In this quick read, you will learn a little more about me, and be comforted that you are not alone in the trials of life. It is my hope that you will leave reading the book inspired and with a renewed sense of hope.
Interesting facts:
- The title is close to one of my favorite 80’s songs by the band Simple Minds. I chose this because the book is about me learning not to forget myself in my journey of loving and serving others.
- I drew all the art on the cover. Each symbol represents something about me. For example, people who have inspired me, and hobbies I have like reading.
Below you will find a link to my book as well as be able to see a preview of it. It’s available on kindle, or paperback. Please enjoy!
Suspend Your Disbelief
My family and I were driving home through the mountains and the dark, towering, majestic mountains reminded me of a song from Calamity Jane.

Recently we celebrated my children’s Baptism anniversary. We got out their Baptism candles, Baptism gowns, photo album and said some prayers. Getting the photo album out reminded me of the party we through for them, and how I wished there was more information on the internet about throwing a Baptism party. Well, here goes!

There’s Always Something
Recently, I have been feeling much more stressed. My schedule has been out of whack because it’s summer and my to do list has been larger because I have been entertaining more, which is wonderful and I love it, but it’s still a lot of work. We have had some unexpected repairs come up for the house as well as some other surprise mishaps. So needless to say, I’ve been stressed. I’ve tried to make time to read, however, and I just finished the book “Living a Life You Love: Embracing the Adventure of Being Led By the Holy Spirit” by Joyce Meyer. I loved it, it’s super simple and straight forward, like all of her books. And man, does she have a great sense of humor. The part about obedience really struck me, and how God rewards our obedience. I also took the part about praying for God’s grace to heart, and I have been.

I had one of those “oh yeah, I need God” kind of days. You know, one of those days where you realize how far you have to come. One of those days you are humbled and realize you are a child of God and not God. One of those days where there is more than your fair share of human waste. You get the picture here.

This is a story I submitted to You, Me and NFP.
How it all began…
My husband and I have been married for 8 1/2 years. I met my husband working at a coffee shop. We fell in love and got married in the Catholic Church in February 2011. We married on our one year anniversary of becoming a couple. We couldn’t be happier. Continue reading “Our NFP Story”
