Best 80s Movie Dance Scenes To Get You Dancing Around Your Living Room

Why I unapologetic-ally love the 80’s

Anyone who knows me knows I love the 80’s. There’s just something about it that speaks to my soul. And I don’t care if you think I’m a weirdo or a dork. Listen to what you like, I don’t care, but I love 80’s music and movies. I want “Don’t You Forget About Me” played at my funeral, people, and if I had it my way I would  have worn the ballroom dress from Labyrinth for my senior prom.

I haven’t always loved the 80’s though, in fact, the music kind of scared me before I became a teenager. It sounded like it was from a different planet. Ha! I love the spunkiness, funkiness and creativity of the 80’s. Once, I cut my hair to channel David Bowie in Labyrinth. I love style, but to me true style isn’t always what’s current, its what speaks to YOUR soul. The same goes for taste in movies and music. As my good ol’ drama teacher used to say, sometime’s you gotta “suspend your disbelief”.

I even designed a mug.

With all that said, I thought I’d share some of my favorite dance scenes from 80’s movies. Getting up and dancing around your living room for even 10 minutes has the power to boost your mood and add some fun to your day.  Let’s get to it!

Favorite 80’s Dance Scenes

I love this movie and the scene makes my heart happy.

I first watched Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in high school. It’s just such a fun movie. Just look at Sloane’s white fringe jacket. I even bought white fringe boots just so I could feel like her.

My husband introduced me to this movie, I had never seen it until I met him. I love this song.

Why doesn’t she choose Duckie? I would have, he is super dorky but super cool and genuine. Look at those moves!

Love. her. dress. I have watched this movie so many times. It’s just epic.

My Dad and I laughed about this movie all the time. “Be excellent to each other, and party on dude!” I even re-enacted the beginning in Spanish for my high school Spanish class. Ha! See, I told you I’m a big 80’s movie fan. I love this scene, especially the part with Joan of Arc.

I have never seen this movie, and honestly I don’t think I will watch it, but this dance scene is super powerful and epic. And I love this song. My husband and I play it whenever something epic happens like graduating college or paying off a credit card. Ha ha

I know, this isn’t a dance scene but it’s so sweet I had to include it.

And yes, I know this movie was made in the 90’s but it’s such a cool scene I had to share! Random fact: I used to tap dance as a child and then I took a class in college. It was so much fun.
